Laura (the gallery) is pleased to participate in NADA Miami 2025, December 2–6 at Ice Palace Studios. Booth D301 brings together artists working in the mystical and cosmological, drawing on New Mexico transcendentalism, ancestral ritual, and spiritual abstraction.
A new painting by Diego Medina anchors the booth. Based in New Mexico, Medina works within Indigenous knowledge systems, exploring portals, thresholds, and cosmological diagrams informed by Southwest land-based philosophies and the Transcendental Painting Group.
On view is a new painting by Shuling Guo, drawing on her practice based in Chinese temple iconography and ancestral reverence from her upbringing in the Chaoshan region. Shaped by the death of her grandmother and the birth of her daughter, the work functions as an altar to memory, motherhood, and inheritance.
The gallery will also show a selection of intimately-scaled paintings by Keiko Moriuchi. The final artist admitted to Gutai, recruited personally by Jiro Yoshihara, Moriuchi works in gesture and gilded, impastoed surfaces of gold and white gold leaf, drawing on Buddhist cosmology, Japanese myth, and her relationships with Ad Reinhardt, Isamu Noguchi, and Matsumi Kanemitsu.
The booth also includes: Ernesto Solana, eclipse photography and patinated sculpture responding to celestial events and ancestral symbols; Alexis Zambrano, paintings on paper drawing on early scientific eclipse illustrations and Southwest cosmological languages; Emily Cheng, a mandala-based painting; and Gerardo Rosales, works exploring coded mythology, queer solitude, and desire and ecology.
Across painting, photography, and sculpture, the artists take up perception, devotion, inheritance, and the unseen forces that shape the world.
